20 YEARS STRONG!
On March 22nd, our chapter held a 20th anniversary celebration at Douglaston Manor. It was SUCH a beautiful night. In what was called the Conservatory Room of the Manor, we celebrated with 100+ guests. It was incredible seeing everyone come together- founders, early sisters, actives, alumna, sisters from different chapters, sisters who chartered other sisterships, friends, children, dates.
With all of those sisters around, it's a given that TONS of photographs were taken. It was really touching seeing pledge sisters, syands (i.e. "same year and semester"), and especially line pictures being taken. For me personally, I was SO excited to meet my founder, Sandra "Bones" Lam. (She was called the 'Justin Bieber' of the night LOL)
All throughout the night, we had a fantastic photographer walking around, capturing these memories. His name is Mark Leong (fun fact: he's the older brother of our active, Betty "LéKora" Leong!). You can check out photos from both our celebration as well as his own photography here:
Feel free to tag yourselves and each other in the pictures on our Facebook page! :)
We even got the chance to perform for all of our guests! A video will be up very shortly :) Prior to the banquet, we all voted on which strolls we've previously performed that we wanted to perform for the big night. It was such a blast performing both old and new strolls for everybody, and it was amazing seeing all the cameras out and hearing all the cheering! Be on the lookout for the video :)
Another positive to the night: our fundraisers of the night also turned out to be a smashing success! Many of our actives went around asking for sponsorships from various companies like Starbucks, Pottery Place, Lindt Chocolate, etc. We also had some amazing donations to raffle off from alumni, like Gucci sunglasses, clutches, and beautiful jewelry. I'm not gonna lie, my boyfriend and I were pretty jealous that we didn't win the Lindt chocolate treats O:)
Below is a link to the video I created for the banquet; unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, it wasn't able to be shown. I really think it illustrates the love that each and every single one of us has for the organization. It's all about creating something that's bigger than yourself. When collecting the footage and putting it all together, my love for the organization grew stronger. I hope you enjoy it as much as we all did!
Katherine "Armada" Jo also took the liberty to create a wonderful slideshow to be played during dinner. I'll include the link to it down below- it has tons and tons of pictures! She even included photos from different chapters. :)
We really can't thank all of you enough for the love and support. I know I can speak for all of us when I say it never ceases to amaze us, and we are beyond lucky.
♥ Until next time!
