Break the Silence 2016 Week Recap

This year's annual Break the Silence Candlelight Vigil went really well! We had speakers from all the NAPA Organizations talk about domestic violence or share something in support for our philanthropy. We also had a moment of silence in order to honor those that have lost their lives after being victims of domestic violence.

It's important to remember just how devastating domestic violence can be. It's something that has been around and taking lives for too long. We have to remember that we can help be the voice of those who may not have one.

Our second day of our Break the Silence week was an interactive tabling where people dipped their finger and put a fingerprint on our display to show their support for Domestic Violence Awareness (DVA). We had the support from people in Greek and Non-Greek Organizations and it was overall a great turn out!

On Wednesday, the third day of our Break the Silence Week we held a presentation led by Therese "REFLEX" Palmere, talking about the discourse that goes on so casually as a response to Donald Trump's Locker Room talk.. We discussed how that kind of conversation is what perpetuates rape culture. We had a great turnout!

On Thursday we had an interactive event we called Spot-a-Sigma where you had to find one of us and we would inform you of a DVA fact as well as giving out candy and taking a picture. WHoever got the most likes on our picture with our hashtags would win a gift card. The winner was one of Cheyenne "Venice" To's friends! Congratulations! :)

Our final day we had our annual Break the Silence Banquet, which was a huge success! We had the honor of having some people speak and educate us about domestic violence as well as share their stories. I'd like to thank everyone who came out to end our Break the Silence Week this year so splendidly!

Here's our chapter being silly for a cute picture of us! We hope everyone came out of this week with their eyes and hearts a little more opened.

Don't forget to stand up for those who can't as well as lending a hang for those who you know need it! Thanks again to everyone who came out this week! :D
